Evaluation of the Mangrove Ecosystem in Saudi Arabia

The sustainability of the mangrove ecosystem in Kingdom Saudi Arabia is an urgent need to conserve these natural treasures and their benefits services. Two species mangroves grow Kingdom: Avicennia marina Rhizophora mucronata. This study aimed evaluate through a set descriptive frameworks, addition using quantitative methods estimate willingness pay (WTP) maintain ecosystem’s benefits. results showed that WTP averaged about 150 riyals ($40) per person. most significant variables affecting were monthly income, educational level, information mangroves, previous visits areas, membership environmental society. consistent with economic logic regarding positive relationships between as dependent variable. also found gender, age, marital status, family size, nature work nonsignificant determinants WTP. recommended attention be paid valuation Kingdom’s services further research studies bridge this knowledge gap, which contributes protection ecosystems raising awareness KEYWORDS marina, DPSIR framework, services, mucronata, sustainability, approach
